Rabbit Hole is a subterranean speakeasy on Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa, opposite Independence (Reunification) Palace. The theme borrows from René Magritte's surrealism and Lewis Carroll's Alice books, and the space is bigger than you would expect, with an L-shaped bar, booths, central tables and a piano for regular live music.

Bar manager Kiddy Kawaii's list covers classics and more avant-garde signatures, backed by a wide-ranging bottle selection. The bar regularly brings in guest bartenders from respected bars around the region.

Its sister venue, Angels' Share, a whisky-focused bar, is close by. Rabbit Hole suits date nights and small groups looking for a polished, theatrical room, and its location opposite one of the city's best-known landmarks makes it an easy first stop on a District 1 night out.

Bars tweak their hours and menus often, so it's worth a quick check before you head out.
