Bar.San is the more polished sibling of Noir CMI and its neighbouring bars on Charoen Prathet Road. It is split over two floors: downstairs is bright, with seats at the counter and chatty bartenders; upstairs is quieter, with jazz on the stereo and carefully chosen decor.
The cocktails are creative but balanced. Pizza Pizza is a tequila drink made with parmesan, tomato and basil, and the Shiozakura Collins brings sakura sweetness; the bar is also known for well-made classics. The food has a Japanese bent, from braised beef tongue with raw egg to mentaiko spaghetti.
At the Bangkok Bar Show Awards 2025 Bar.San ranked No. 10 on Thailand's 20 Best Bars list and was named Best Bar in Chiang Mai. It is a strong first stop on a Chiang Mai bar crawl and works well for a date or a meal at the counter.
