The mansion at 106 North Sathorn Road has been a tycoon's residence, a hotel and the Soviet embassy; today it houses Bar Sathorn, part of W Bangkok, with dark wood, leather seating and polished service. It is close to BTS Chong Nonsi.
Milan-born Marco Dognini, who has tended bar in eight countries, raids the building's history for the menu. The Staro Sbagliato adds sweet basil wine and a caper and lemon sorbet; a hot bullshot with tom kha broth nods to the embassy years; and the agave-and-bacon bloody Mary is chilled with a whole frozen tomato rather than ice. A monthly specials list spotlights Thai producers, from cacao and wild honey to hill-tribe coffee, and many herbs come from the W's rooftop garden. Bar bites are served until 11pm.
Bar Sathorn was No. 48 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2025 and jumped to No. 17 in 2026. DJs spin vinyl Thursday to Sunday, and reservations are recommended at weekends.
Bars tweak their hours and menus often, so it's worth a quick check before you head out.
