Nutmeg & Clove was founded in 2014 by industry veteran Colin Chia and sits at 8 Purvis Street, a short walk from Bugis. It pays homage to Singapore's journey from colonial outpost to modern city, reinterpreting classic dishes and cocktails with a Singaporean inflection; the latest menu draws on community stories to mark the nation's 60th anniversary.
The room is long and bright, with a white bar counter running its length. Alongside the cocktails, the kitchen serves Modern Singaporean bar food. The same team runs Last Word upstairs.
It is one of the most consistent bars on the regional rankings: No. 7 on Asia's 50 Best Bars in 2023, No. 6 in 2024 and No. 24 in 2025, and No. 50 on The World's 50 Best Bars 2025. Open daily from 5pm to midnight, with reservations through SevenRooms. A good first stop for visitors who want local flavours in a glass.
