Last Word

Last Word is named after the forgotten Prohibition-era classic and sits on the second floor of 8 Purvis Street, above its sister bar Nutmeg & Clove. The team describes it as a restaurant and cocktail bar that aims to rekindle the romance of classic cocktails.

The design is pared-back and Japanese-minimalist, and the menu is organised around classic cocktails spanning five eras of mixing history, so it is a good place to try the original versions of drinks you know only as modern riffs. Food is simple Japanese favourite dishes.

Last Word was No. 93 on the Asia's 50 Best Bars 51–100 list in 2024. It opens daily from 5pm to midnight, and reservations can be made through its website. Pair it with a round at Nutmeg & Clove downstairs for an easy two-bar evening, or come for a quiet, focused drink at the counter.
