By day the shopfront on Jalan Gurdwara is easy to walk past, but at night Good Friends Club comes alive as an indoor-outdoor drinking spot. Bartenders in blue waistcoats and red ties add a sense of occasion to a casual room of boxy tiles, an aluminium bar and peeling paint.

The drinks draw on kopitiam culture and local ingredients: the Laksa Negroni and the Penang White Dai-Curry are signatures, and earlier menus included the Ban Chang Kuih, inspired by the peanut pancake street snack. The thick, tome-like menu features the staff who make the drinks, some served with smoke and flames, and frequent collaborations with other bars and brands keep things changing.

Founded by Lorraine Tan, with Kelvin Wong as bar manager, Good Friends Club is in Tatler's Best 20 Bars Malaysia 2026. It suits groups and a fun night out, and pairs easily with Backdoor Bodega a few doors away.

Bars tweak their hours and menus often, so it's worth a quick check before you head out.
