HATS on Jalan Iskandarsyah in Melawai is the project of award-winning pastry chef turned bartender Demitria Dana Paramita. The front is a sorbet shop serving alcohol-free scoops in flavours like Negroni, Piña Colada and White Russian; behind it lies a hidden cocktail bar.
The Shades of Red menu grows more intense in flavour and colour the deeper you read. The Red Carpet Collection gathers three competition-winning signatures: Nira, with Roku Gin, siwalan vinegar and reduced palm sap; Assam Laksa, a sweet, sour and spicy take on the Penang dish with gin, pineapple and kecombrang; and Ramona Legacy, a strawberry-led tribute to Demitria's mother.
A good choice for a dessert-and-drinks date or a group that wants something playful. Open Tuesday to Sunday (closed Monday) from 5pm, until 2am on Friday and Saturday.
Bars tweak their hours and menus often, so it's worth a quick check before you head out.
