The Aubrey occupies the 25th floor of Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, created with Maximal Concepts as an 'eccentric Japanese izakaya'. The interiors draw on Japonisme, the 19th-century fashion for Japanese aesthetics in Western art, with a drawing room, a curio lounge and sweeping views of Victoria Harbour.
There are three distinct bar experiences: a main cocktail bar focused on Japanese spirits such as shochu and whisky, a small omakase cocktail counter offering a guided two-hour drinks journey with light snacks, and a bar for Champagne and sake with oysters. The kitchen serves izakaya dishes, sushi, tempura and robata, plus bento lunches and weekend brunch.
The Aubrey ranked No. 10 on Asia's 50 Best Bars in 2024. Cocktails are served from noon, until 1am most nights and 2am on Saturdays. Dress is smart casual and under-18s are not admitted after 7pm.
Bars tweak their hours and menus often, so it's worth a quick check before you head out.
